Onestroke Poppies – very popular!

After finishing the cake, it was a pleasure to paint small again. Poppies are always popular and I painted 3 sets in one week. I painted these using Elit Master Paints from Liliya Nigmutallina. These are really dense paints and are specially created for Onestroke and Zhostovo work.  The clients asked for Onestroke Poppies on accent fingers only.

Onestroke Poppies for a trip to Ypres

Fran was off for a family Photoshoot to the Battlefields of Ypres and decided to have early poppies painted. Base coat of Shellac Wildfire and Blackpool with Additives on the middle and pinky finger. Gel over natural nails.

These nails were for Susie, the florist responsible for the floral display (Susie Edwards Floral Design) and the commissioning of the cake. She decided she’d like poppies on Shellac Hot Chillies on her ring fingers for Part One of the wedding. For Part Two in Azerbaijan Susie asked for Poppies over Wildfire.

The final poppies for the week. Onestroke Poppies painted on Ann’s Ring and Middle finger. Gel polish over natural nails. I really enjoyed doing these nails! I’ve painted a lot of plain nails this month – it’s always a pleasure to get creative!

I’m hoping to have more time in November to practice new designs and techniques, I have a couple of online courses in the pipeline and I’m toying with the idea of airbrushing. A friend is on the case with a compressor winging it’s way to me.  I may be proficient in time for the festive season!

Remembrance Sunday is only 4 weeks away – I wonder if I’m asked to do any more Poppies!

Nail Art, Glitter and Stamping

Nail Art, Glitter and Stamping. Nails that I haven’t posted on the blog yet. I’m still deciding what pictures to include in the site’s Gallery. Meanwhile, the blog is as good a place as any to post. Clients are feeling Autumn coming on, colours are getting darker, though glitter is still very popular. Click on the pics to enlarge.

These pastel nails were a last minute design. Transparent foils over various pastel gel polish. Colours chosen by the client. The Peach nails were mine, gel polish over acrylic infil. I painted and stamped them for my London trip to finish off the cake. I knew I had a lot of gold to paint and thought this would disguise any splatters. I hated these nails, they lasted 1 week and were filed off! I don’t like peach!

This is Ink London i79. It is a stunning colour, a real inky blue with red tones to it. Really popular that week, I used it 4 times on various clients. Definitely on the re-order list.

Just a Quick Post – Nails

I’m still madly catching up on everything, I see the light at the end of the tunnel, then suddenly my To Do List gets longer and longer! The websites are all just about sorted now. That’s it, I’m retiring from web design! No more HTML for me.

Self Employed

The Value of Independence

It’s been so hectic lately that my 1 year anniversary of working in my own studio slipped by! It’s been an amazing year and a real eye opener! Thank you to all who have supported me, it’s highly appreciated! Although Mole End Design has been around for years for my Graphic Design and Website work, it’s been migrating more and more towards my nails, lashes and brow business, now with waxing and spray tanning. The studio is now fully functional. Before October 2014 I did the odd set of nails, brows or lashes from home while working freelance elsewhere. It is now a fully stocked bespoke studio, away from the hustle and bustle of town life and fully private. it makes a real difference having everything I need under one roof, and if I feel inspiration coming on, I just pop into the studio and with the tools and accessories to hand, I can create instantly. It was the push I needed!

I’m petsitting inbetween clients for the rest of the month with my trusty sidekick stepping in to sit with the dogs while I work, racing back and forth. Hopefully I will get time to catch up on all my admin while I’m away from home without the distractions of glitter and polish tempting me to play!

More blogs coming soon… ‘I Painted a Cake’, ‘Seasonal Offers’ ‘Christmas Designs’…

October News and a Wedding Cake

It’s been a while! I haven’t had time to post for absolutely ages but I’m now trying to catch up. I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel but now have 5 websites to update as they all need to be mobile and tablet friendly, not to mention Google friendly. I’ve decided to delete the Mybrowzdorset site as everything is now covered on this Mole End Design site, this will be removed over the next few days.

I’ve been working on a monster wedding cake, decorating it with onestroke techniques, full blog post to follow. The wedding is today so hopefully will have permission to post the lot! These are the paintings I submitted in order to get the job. It’s taken up a lot of my time but it was worth it… I hope!

I’ve been to Sunderland for a mini break and while there had volume eyelash extensions applied by the brilliant Deb Callaghan at Essential Beauty. She created a lovely glamorous volume set for me, I absolutely love them! I have taken about 50 pics on my phone but cannot get a decent shot! It’s on my list to practice more new techniques for the latest looks in lashes. I’m inspired! New offers coming soon for an increased lash menu.  I just have to concentrate on one thing at a time! no limits to achieve

I also managed to squeeze in another course and am now qualified in full body waxing. I had a great time on the course but wasn’t expecting to have to subject myself to another student! Ouch! Learned lots and now making plans for the future!
