Change The Game – TNG Stage 2 Course with Kirsty Meakin

I’ve just completed the That Nail Girl Stage 2 Change The Game Course with Kirsty Meakin. What a brilliant teacher and a lovely lady.

I’ve been booked on this course since December and we’ve all been so excited to attend. We are the first group to train with Kirsty and we were all so in awe of her amazing talents. Having watched her videos on youtube (Chesterfield Cushion design here) we had an idea what to expect but we just didn’t realise how much she knows. There are over 380 videos on there, go subscribe.

Great set up and so much glitter around us, like a nail tech’s heaven. This ad will forever remind me of my week in Stoke!

I went to the course not very keen on acrylics and not expecting much but I am inspired now… who wants acrylics? Long ones, short ones, detailed ones…  Come on, let me loose on your nails!

Paw Patrol Nails

The Brief

Marshall from Paw Patrol Nails. Anyone who knows me knows I do not do Cute! I had to do minions last year and hated every minute of it. I’ve painted penguins, snowmen, reindeer all under duress.

This time I was sent a picture and asked to create a picture on a lady’s nails for her son’s birthday party. After a quick Google I discovered it was Marshall from Paw Patrol. There’s so much merchandise for this and I had never heard of it!

The Preparation

I figured I really needed to practice on swatches first, glass of wine in hand, Netflix playing Sons Of Anarchy… I was all set! NOT as easy as I first thought! The eyes. So  hard to get them not looking cross-eyed. The position was hard too as I kept making it too far over so his fireman’s hat was hanging off the nail. Eventually I created  these 2.

I chose a black and a white gel base for contrast. Painted using acrylic paints and a size 0 brush with details painted using Team Gorgeous Dita brush.

Marshall Design on the Nails

Natalie came in Friday for the actual nails. She decided to have the other nails in the colours of the other Paw Patrol Characters with little paw prints on them.  The end result was very bright and met with her son’s approval. Can’t wait to see the party pictures!

Bespoke nail art is always a pleasure, I love a challenge and trying new ideas. I wonder what’s next? I flat out refuse to do minions though!

Happy New Year from Mole End Design

Just found this in my scheduled folder… I went on holiday and it didn’t upload.  This one is 18 months late!  I see my New Year Resolutions failed miserably.

Now teaching courses for Jane Bryan Beauty Training, see the website for more details www.lcbta.co.uk

Happy new year 2016 flying colorful balloonsWishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2016 and I hope it brings all you wish for. 2015 has flown by and we’re now ready for 2016 – what will it bring? New goals, new colours, new designs…

New Year Resolutions?

  1. I must post more regularly
  2. Keep training and up to date with the latest trends and techniques
  3. Make more lists!

I have a busy few days ahead, then teaching a Gel Polish Manicure Course on Wednesday. Thursday I’m off to Gatwick staying overnight ready for my holiday to Goa. I’m back to work Monday 25th January. Hoping to pick up lots of Bling and ideas while in India!

Here are the last of the 2015 designs. I bought Xmas stamping plates with snowflakes and baubles and hardly used them, everyone wanted handpainted this year! I’m looking at them seeing if I can use them in other designs throughout the year, otherwise it’s the bin!

Now… what am I going to have on my holiday nails! I’m sat here with blank nails wondering whether to go for plain, glitter, pigments, stamping, bling, 3d… all of the above! Subtle? Neon? French? My suitcase is packed so it’s just me to get ready now. See you when I get back!
