Autumn Nail Designs
Autumn Nail Designs
Some of my September finger nail and toenail designs. Still catching up! What else to do on a rainy Dorset Sunday afternoon?
I’ve let myself get a little behind in posting the latest nails to the blog. Next few posts are just catching up!
To keep up to date and see my latest designs see my Facebook Page here.
March 17th is St Patrick’s day (and is also my parents’ wedding anniversay – double celebration!) and every year the Irish, or Irish at heart celebrate the day. It began as a religious feast day for the patron saint or Ireland and is now an international festival celebrating Irish culture. Across the globe there are parades, dancing, drinking and lots of green! I have seen St Patrick’s Day celebrated in the UK, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, India and Australia and almost always Guinness is involved!
Last year, my client was off to Dublin and was after Shamrocks for her nails so I did a couple of swatches and couldn’t resist doing a Guinness one.
This year another client is off to Dublin for St Patrick’s Day so she opted for the emerald green glitter nails with the Guinness harps on her ring fingers. This design is a combination of glitter and hand painting. I’m hoping Fran sends some pics of the nails on location with a Guinness in hand!
According to Wikipedia ‘On St Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing or accessories (the “wearing of the green”). St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. The colour green has been associated with Ireland since at least the 1640s, when the green harp flag was used by the Irish Catholic Confederation.’
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Nail Art, Glitter and Stamping. Nails that I haven’t posted on the blog yet. I’m still deciding what pictures to include in the site’s Gallery. Meanwhile, the blog is as good a place as any to post. Clients are feeling Autumn coming on, colours are getting darker, though glitter is still very popular. Click on the pics to enlarge.
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and is still enjoying the warm weather. The clocks have gone forward, days are getting longer and Spring is here. Summer is just around the corner so it’s time to start thinking of your summer maintenance! Toes are soon to be in sandals, fingers will be on parade and it’s time to sort those unruly eyebrows and glam up the eyelashes.
Everyone seems to smile more when the sun is shining and it brings out everyone’s desire to start looking towards summer holidays and getting skin, hair and nails ready for warmer days and nights. It’s time for me to think of Summer offers for all treatments! Check out the newsletter for new upcoming offers – Join Here! Newsletter
Fran was really feeling Spring has sprung so asked for yellow springlike nails this time. After looking through swatches and deciding on combinations, we decided to do daisies on a Limeade base with some blue additives. It was great fun to do them after doing a load of stamping. My stamping is improving though after the masterclass from Alex last week. She really showed me some great techniques and tips.
Uber Chic has this to say about them:
I’ve just had an amazing 4 days with Alexandra Woodward teaching each other lots of new skills and trading ideas. The time just flew by but we got through a lot. Alex arrived around 2pm on Thursday and after unpacking and going through our goodies we set to getting to grips with One Stroke. Then followed 3 days of general playing and learning. We both now have massive shopping and Wish Lists for new brushes, paints, polishes and glitters (my first order went in last night 😉 )
We covered One Stroke Nail Art, Gel Polish Designs, Glitters, Pigments, Advanced Stamping, Hand painted Decals, Toe Nail Reconstruction, and lots of general nail art playing!
I still have to sort images, we didn’t take many! Friday night we finished around 2am, Saturday we decided we’d better put the brushes and paints away around 1.00am.
Alex broke a nail so we decided to fix it, which progressed to a full paint job. We used Gelish over her natural nails then added pigments, fine silver glitter and cobalt blue hexagon glitter. These really sparkle.
I tried out the new Uber Chic Stamping Plates, these are stunning. Alex brought so many varieties of stamping polish we were covered!
My decals weren’t too good but now I have the hang of it I know what to expect so hopefully can create some new nail art before the clients arrive to save time.
Alex will be selling these Pure Color Nail Art brushes, they really are brilliant to use. I’ve had mine for a few months and I can get really fine detailed lines with them. No 10 is the detail brush No 9 is the Striper. Highly recommended. They have a comfortable grip and are not too skinny to hold. I use the Crystal Nails Barbara ll Brush and these are very close to that. You can get whisker thin strokes with both of them.
I’m currently in Somerset until Wednesday and have a seriously limited internet so hopefully it will be enough to upload this! It’s not enough for Facebook so I may even get some work done! I have a few sets of fingers and toes to upload, and then finally finish off my website in between walking dogs, feeding birds and dodging the rain showers.
It’s been a while since I updated the blog. Lots has been happening and I have a lot of things to catch up on.
First of all there was Christmas, I flew up to Sunderland to spend it with Dad and friends, leaving Jim at home! I arrived back in Dorset January 31st, squeezed a few clients in before travelling to Eastbourne for a few days ( a few treatments over there!) before leaving for Goa. I’d planned to update the blog from Goa but the WiFi was only in the bars so I was otherwise occupied! Holiday over now so it’s time to crack on with 2015.
I’m finally settling back in to a routine and getting the site and advertising and promotion work sorted.
Special Offers for February and March are below but future offers, will be via a newsletter which can be found here http://eepurl.com/bdJcID

My home studio is just about there now. I have moved things around quite a lot and am finally getting comfortable with the layout of the nail tables and beauty couch, other furniture and storage. I’ve had great fun ordering stock and supplies and can’t wait to have a proper play with some of the new nail art items. I have been approached to teach some nail art which could be good!
I’m in the process of doing an online extra Lash Course, working through home study of new nail art and am planning on booking an advanced nail course in the very near future.
These offers are valid until March 30th 2015.
More soon as I get things organised!
